The Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove is one of only five sites in the state that has counts of over 10,000 butterflies annually. Each year thousands of vibrant orange and black Monarch Butterflies flock to Pismo State Beach, a location essential to their successful migration, seeking shelter from the freezing northern winters. From late October to February, the butterflies cluster in the limbs of towering, majestic Eucalyptus trees flanking a riparian estuary that flows to the Pacific Ocean.

Banner Airways has been operating out of Oceano County Airport for the past 30 years. "That yellow biplane" has become a familiar piece of Pismo Beach as it takes its passengers for sightseeing tours and/or thrill rides along the coast.

The swinging bridge was originally constructed in early 1875 by the Short family, whose land was divided by the Arroyo Grande Creek. The bridge spans a total length 171 feet and is suspended 40 feet above the creek. It's owned and maintained by the City of Arroyo Grande and is the only one of its kind in California. The bridge was damaged by a falling tree in March 1995. With strong community support, it was completely restored in May 1995.
