The Addison Rd Community Centre is my very favourite place in Marrickville. Originally a Ww1 army barracks, it is now home to many community worthy Community enterprises such as Maggie’s Rescue, the Bower Bird and Reverse Garbage. Do not miss the markets if you are here in a Sunday! Edit

Food scene

My recommendations for the best Chinese, cafe food, gelato, pork roll, Vietnamese and modern Australian bar food in Marrickville.
You’ll spot this local favourite from the line spiralling up the street. A large Vietnamese population live and work here in Marrickville contributing richly to local community. Only six bucks buys you a delicious thickly filled fill you up till dinner time Banh Mi. This business originally evolved out of a toilet block, that then became a ubiquitous hole in the wall tobacconist. Now finished it’s true purpose as a delicious lunch takeaway option.

Born in Marrickville in 2015 as Pogoto gelato, and reimagined as Fresko galato, this successful dessert spot now has three branches. Special unusual Greek flavours as well as more traditional flavours available! You’ll recognise the building from the pop art! The chocolate chilli when it is available my favourite.
