Sightseeing

We think it’s a must to have a beer in Beer! It’s a quiet fishing village and great to hire a boat in the summer. Check our Beer Self Drive Boats and book to ensure your place. The views from the end of Beer Head are wonderful, but it is a hilly walk from the town, there is parking up the hill to save the climb! We can also recommend a full English breakfast at Duckys cafe on the beach. Its also possible to pick up fresh fish from the shop in Beer.

There is a nice lazy walk along the estuary and around the shore line, great for a lazy stroll to watch the world go by! Some good fish restaurants too, there is also a floating restaurant on the river. The marina is an interesting place to walk around, and the walk along the side of the river estuary is always popular. For the more ambitious, you can get the ferry to Starcross from the Marins, and either use the train or cycle back to Exmouth by going up the estuary to Exeter and returning via Topsham, its around 22 miles, mainly flat, so its still a relaxing ride.

This is a fantastic place to visit, especially for the children, but it also of interest to adults.

A pebbly beach, with a nice walk long the sea front. Great for fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding.

Food scene

If you are looking for fresh crab, lobster, prawns or other shellfish then this is the place to shop, the wet fish is always a delight too. We buy from here and find the fish is always fantastic. The fresh fish sandwiches are also very good!

A new exciting menu with new owners in Jan 2022. Only 170 paces from the cottage so you can have a beer whilst looking out to sea!

Great food, good beer, great staff! Large beer garden round the back of the pub, often with the pizza oven fired up in summer. We have taken advantage of the Sunday lunch takeaway menu and always enjoyed it.
