On the water: best view of the harbor from the deck tables. Hidden away but once found NEVER forgotten. Great Food. Cozy in winter. In season sit on the outside deck on Monday lunchtimes and watch the weekly Windjammers sail out on the tide close enough to your table to talk, not yell, with the Captain and passengers. Also day-sailing windjammers every 2-3 hours sail out/in near your table as well. Good food, ok pricing, interesting specials. Traditional seafood dishes get a twist at this revered eatery & bar that is indeed by the water. If you are going to do lobster out, this is THE PLACE to go. None better (IMHO of course). Upstairs outdoor deck or inside dining. They do have other things, but LOBSTER is the reason to go. On the water and over looks New Harbor and fishing boats and the Monhegan Island Ferry and Tour boats. Can get lobsters alone or with salad and rolls. Clams, fish, 'bergers, blooming onions. Blueberry pie, beer and drinks. Many other items. But don't go for the "other items"; go for Lobster! Order at counter, find a table and wait for your ticket # to be called. Rustic lobster shack overlooking a scenic harbor, serving lobster rolls, fried clams & booze. This is our nineteenth year sailing on Lazy Jack in Camden. Lazy Jack II is the only schooner sailing out of Camden that was built by her owner.
If you desire to cruise the bay on a more traditional sailing vessel, there are a variety of day sail cruises on Penobscot Bay that leave Camden Harbor each day. Whether you want to sail around the harbor, explore the Maine coast, or venture out into scenic Penobscot Bay, the Camden Maine area offers a wide range of day sailing adventures to fit your budget, preference and needs. Most day sailing excursions typically run two hours and sail the surrounding waters of Penobscot Bay. These sailing excursions emphasize a laid-back, stress-free and leisurely way to experience the scenic beauty of Penobscot Bay and the Maine coast.

High-End Food scene

Usually nicer ambiance and higher prices, read detail for our take.
Tucked away on a side road and easy to miss. Very good food, some of the best we've had.

If you like gourmet food, this is the place to go. Run for 25 years by the proprietors, an Irish lady and a French Chef. In a classic 1810 farmhouse built proudly upon two centuries of New England heritage, Chef/owner Manuel Mercier draws upon his French heritage and European training to create an array of traditionally prepared with locally sourced ingredients dishes. This nationally renowned restaurant has an exquisite gourmet menu as well as extensive wine cellar offerings. Enjoy before or after dinner drinks in the adjacent fire-placed bar. Relax in the ambiance of the brick fireplace while sampling fine wines or European beers. On the expensive side [ as most gourmet restaurants are?] but if you want to go this way, it's really not too too bad especially if you do the "price fix" menu. The various flavors [but especially chocolate :-) ] of warm individual volcano cake are not to be missed. Must order with dinner: $10 or $5 with price fix dinner. Make reservations. Another harbor where you can catch Windjammers. Camden is the other. Camden is easier to actually see the boats, but many sail out of Rockland also. Lots of shopping. One of the towns to get Ferries to other islands.
