Request to sit on the back patio if possible, the whole restaurant is super cool. Grab a margarita while you wait at the circular bar. Delicious food and strong drinks. Ask to see the secret wine cellar.

Limited hours, open to 5pm, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There is always a line, but it’s worth the wait. Delicious tender steak is barbequed on mesquite wood, homemade flour tortillas and yummy pinto beans. Their tacos are larger and a different style than other taco shops, absolutely delicious.

This is a casual outdoor restaurant that closes at 8pm most days, so go early. Try the El Diablo Shrimp. It’s the best thing on the menu. Also the tacos are good.

Outdoor Activities

El Salto is a hike through a volcanic canyon located about 50 minutes south. There are camping sites, a well-managed parking area, bathrooms and farm animals. Parking costs a few dollars per person. The natural landscape is pretty, it’s a deep gorge with some pools of water (not recommended for swimming). It gets hot out there, so bring water to drink. Visit www.elsaltoensenada.com for more information and directions.

Neighborhoods

Popotla is a little fishing village located just 15 minutes south right past the town of Rosarito. Fresh seafood and drinks are served right on the beach. Fishing boats and cars are pulled onto the beach. It tends to get busiest on Sundays, so parking may take a minute, but it’s fun and there are all sorts of new things to try. Look it up on Google Maps to find it.

City advice

Getting around

Taxis are the easiest way to get around.

Taxis are available, walk up to the guard station at the entrance of the neighborhood and ask them to call you a taxi, if you have a larger group, request a van taxi. They usually take a little time to arrive, so I would recommend asking at least 30-40 minutes prior to when you want to leave. If you want to schedule a ride in advance, you could do that too. Uber – the uber app works here, but sometimes it’s not completely reliable or takes a long time depending on how many drivers are working in Rosarito. Worth a shot if you’re not in a rush. Driving is pretty easy around town.
