BEACHES

SURFS UP ! Polzeath is a very popular family beach. It is world renowned for its surfing possibilities. Here you can hire a board and take to the waves with or without an instructor. (I would recommend having a lesson if you are new to the sport, Wave hunters at Polzeath are very good.)

This is the perfect family beach with something to do for everyone. The beach has a vast sea pool which is manned by lifeguards throughout the summer months. This beach, as well as Widemouth Bay, are great for surfing. The beach is just a short walk from the centre of Bude where there are a range of shops, supermarkets and cafes. – Make sure you grab a Cornish Pasty whilst in town!

Millook is one of Cornwall’s most scenic hidden gems. Not a lot of people know about this pebbly beach so you are likely to have more privacy here. – However I would not suggest going swimming here, there are no lifeguards and the beach is mostly rocks.

Crackington Haven is small beach with huge geological features both on the North and South side. It is great for rock pooling ! Here you have two very good ice cream shops and The Coombe Barton Inn which can certainly supply you with a cold pint after a long walk.

SIGHTSEEING

Trebarwith Strand is beautiful with extraordinary formations and rock pools. At low tide the beach is vast however at high tide you cannot access the beach. (I would recommend visiting if you get rough/windy weather to watch the Atlantic waves power into the rocks and cliffs)

Conquer Davidstow Moor ! Bring your walking boots (or wellies !) and walk to the top of Rough Tor or Brown Willy, the moorland is just 6 miles from Eveley Cottage where, at the top, you can enjoy spectacular views across Davidstow Moor and on a clear day, all the way to Bolventor. Here, ponies and sheep run free so be careful when driving.
