Sightseeing

Old train depot turned Inn. We love it here, especially in the winter, when we rent a caboose to stay the night. It is fun in summer to go and check our the history and there is a fun game room in the basement. Lots of fun hiking trails just out the door. Food is boring and not well done, but dining room is fun to sit in.

This is what everyone does when they come to glacier, but for good reason! It is incredibly beautiful up here. The board walk is an easy walk and the drive is incredible. It takes about 2 hours from here to get to the top of the road.

Trails

One of our favorite places to hike and the closest to us. The road is rough and feels long. Go slow and watch for others coming down. Our favorite hike is Mount Aneas, the tallest mountain in the Swan Range. It is called the jewel basin because of the many lakes that look like jewels.

This is one of our favorite hikes in Glacier, just insanely beautiful. Not short or easy, but just the way we like it. Best done as a loop, hitch hiking in glacier back to your car is easy and done often. Even if you don't want to hike far, the first part of trail is still worth it, or the bottom at sunrift gorge is also amazing!

If you are a bit hardcore then this hike is for you! Hard, but incredibly beautiful. Probably the prettiest hike in Glacier. Visit the Sperry Chalet, which is a historic, beautiful building and then head up to the glacier. Aquamarine pools greet you at every bend until you climb the carved steps and top out at the glacier. Incredible views in every direction. Stop in at Lake Mcdonald Lodge for a swim and a bite to eat afterwards.

Columbia Mountain trail is long and steep. But near the bottom are a few little water falls, and about 2 miles up there is a larger water fall. This is a great trail when you are tired of the glacier crowds. Great for families, as you just turn around when you are done hiking.
