Food Scene

Ridiculously magic location and a secret amongst locals. It is a seafood bonanza. Fully licenced so you can BYO if you choose. It's worth going for the magical winding drive into Berowra Waters which includes a fun ferry ride where you don't get out of your car! Drive the car right up onto the ferry - free of charge. The ferry is closed for maintenance fortnightly at 2pm. They are open for lunch and dinner only from Wednesday to Sunday. From Wednesday lunchtime to Friday lunch time the menu is Á la carte, and from Friday dinner time to Sunday dinner the food is buffet style ($65 pp). Wine tastings happen on Friday and Sunday nights (02) 9456-2633 199 Bay Road Berowra Waters

Brooklyn is another little magic spot, 20 minutes north of Mount Colah. The drive in is gorgeous and the very small and quaint Lifeboat restaurant serves delicious locally caught seafood. They only serve what has been caught that morning in the area. I love the fiddler shark best however I never seem to turn up on the right day for it! 1 Dangar Rd, Brooklyn NSW 2083 lifeboatseafood.com.au (02) 9985 7510

Very good food. Upmarket and worth it. Atmosphere is great, service prompt and a lot of thought has been put into the interior design. You can have breakfast and lunch here but it's not open for dinner. They have an impressive selection of cakes and serve good coffee too.

Thai food 'infused' with other influences... I eat here regularly. The food here is absolutely gorgeous and the service is excellent. I find it very hard to go past the tapas menu and mostly pick bits and pieces from that. I am very fond of all of their prawn dishes and the scallops are to die for! If I venture off the tapas menu, there are some solid meat meals from the grill on offer which are very good also. Booking might be an idea from Thursday to Sunday as it gets busy. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for. I'm a regular customer and I am VERY fussy about food!!

This is a pub / bar with and excellent menu. I go here for the grass fed steak. You can't pay more money for better steak. It's truly one of Sydney's best at a fair price (around $30 for the 250g) including your choice of sides. There are other steaks however I can only vouch for this one! The atmosphere is a bit lacking, but the steak....
