Excellent breakfast! 8-2 Tuesday-Sunday. This is my favorite little breakfast spot as well as a small grocery with the essentials. Right around the corner from our place and across Howe from the #1 bus stop so a great place to start the day before heading downtown or the Seattle Center area.

This is a cool little bar where they make cider. The food is also yummy and it's a great space. There is ample parking, outdoor seating and a great happy hour as well.

Arguably the best pizza delivery in the city, 206-726-1717. This location also has a small eat-in area and sells pizza by the slice. Yummy salads too. Many locations throughout the city, there is another on lower Queen Anne with a larger eat-in area.

Good seasonal food and yummy cocktails right on the top of Queen Anne. If it's nice out, try to get a place on little patio out back.

Everything is delicious here! One of Ethan Stowell's (a very well known Seattle restaurateur) growing empire. Italian inspired, in a tiny and fabulous trendy atmosphere. Sitting at the bar is a treat and this is a place where you can just let them recommend things and you won't be disappointed. On the top of Queen Anne.

This is a great neighborhood bar/restaurant with live music 5 nights a week, a pretty good Happy Hour from 4-7 Monday through Friday, decent food and atmosphere at very reasonable prices.

This restaurant gets fabulous reviews and describes itself as seasonal, avant garde, New American cuisine. Disclaimer is we haven't tried it yet, but including it since it's close and supposed to be excellent. Only seats 24.

Located at Fisherman's Terminal, this place has consistently good seafood at reasonable prices. It's a bit of an institution, and part of the local Anthony's chain. It's not a "foodie" place, but it's quite good with a view of the boats and plenty of parking. We usually opt for the bar (their Happy Hour is pretty good too), or the outdoor seating. It's a big, open, lively atmosphere.

There is nothing better than sitting outside on the deck at Ray's on a sunny day. This place has a breathtaking view, a lively atmosphere, and great food. Ray's is another institution here in Seattle. It is CROWDED on nice days and while you can make a reservation, you can't reserve the outside seating so go early or prepare to wait. Great views from inside too and a fun bar and Happy Hour as well. The Cafe is upstairs from the Ray's more formal dining downstairs, but I prefer the cafe.

Parks & Nature

Iconic viewpoint and park. You can drive here in about 5 minutes, but a very nice walk (first part is very uphill) from the apt. If you walk you'll pass a nice westerly viewpoint along the way as well as Parson's Gardens, a pretty little park where lots of weddings are held. Lots of beautiful homes too. It's .7 miles to the park this way. You can continue your walk to Queen Anne Avenue where there are numerous restaurants and shops and do a nice 2.5 mile or so loop.

This is the largest park in the city (534 acres). It has 11.8 miles of walking trails, but the most popular, and my favorite for a great in-city little hike/walk is the 2.8 mile loop trail which takes you through forest and open meadows, and some amazing views (sometimes you'll see seals or sea lions). You can also take the South Beach trail to get to the beach but most just stick to the Loop Trail.

Essentials

Right down the hill, full grocery store with lots of ready made to go food; sandwiches, burritos, pizza, salad bar, rotating hot bar, etc. A bit on the expensive side, but priced for convenience.

This is THE best pharmacy/drugstore in Seattle. They are locally owned and have great service. Many locations, but this one is open 24 hours. They also have a limited grocery selection but great late night stop. This location is also located above a Metropolitan Market, which is an upscale grocery store.

Sightseeing

Home to the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture, Pacific Science Center, IMAX theatre, Chihuly Garden and Glass, Key Arena, Children's Theater, International Fountain, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Repertory Theater, Memorial Stadium, Seattle Opera, SIFF Film Center, The Vera Project, etc., etc. There are many festivals and events held on these grounds. Across the street from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Teatro ZinZanni. You can also take the Monorail (relic from the '62 World's Fair) to Westlake Center to go shopping or head to Pike Place Market.

A visit to Seattle wouldn't be complete without visiting Pike Place Market at least once. It's one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the US. Lots of fresh produce stands, the famous fish throwers and other fishmongers, local crafts people, specialty foods, plenty of restaurants, buskers, the gum wall, the original Starbuck's, and a generally festive atmosphere. It can get VERY crowded, especially in the summer months. Best time to go is early to avoid crowds.

Taking a ferry is a true Seattle experience. The most popular trip for visitors is Bainbridge Island, only 35 minutes away. You can ride and come right back just for the scenic views, or you can visit the town of Winslow (this can all be done easily just walking on). For a longer day you can head to Bloedel Reserve for a beautiful nature experience. Be prepared to get some great photos of downtown Seattle on the return trip (which is free for walk-on passengers) www.bainbridgeisland.com is a good resource. You can also head to Bremerton for a longer ferry ride but I think most visitors will find Bainbridge more interesting.

Drinks & Nightlife

The List has a GREAT Happy Hour in a small space with a trendy vibe. The Happy Hour is all day on Sundays and Mondays, Tues-Thurs. 4-6:30 and 9PM to midnight, and Friday and Saturday 4-6:30. But just go for the all day HH on Sundays and Mondays. All their food is half off, bottles of red or white are only $15, glasses of wine are $3.99, and draft beer is $3.25. Really, this is a screaming deal! It can be crowded with a wait sometimes, but it's worth it if you're on a budget. Also, the heated toilet seats are pretty cool too!!
