Public Beaches

Pier 19 - just a couple minute drive: Features a small country store with groceries, ice cream, a deli, pizza, etc. the gas dock is open 7 days per week. They will be offering sea plane rides in the near future! There is also a large public beach available, with swimming, picnic tables under a pavilion, restrooms and a grassy area. 20 mile bay beach is just before 19 mile bay but it is much smaller and does not have picnic tables or restrooms. Unless the other beach is crowded we recommend it over 20 mile bay.

Did you know NH has the skeleton of a massive volcano. About 10 times the size of Mt St Helen the eruption 200 million years ago shaped the Ossipee Mountains as we know them today. The circular caldera in the conservation area is the best place to check out volcanic rocks and waterfalls. It is breathtaking!

Skiing!

Abenaki Ski Area is a community-owned ski area in the neighboring town of Wolfeboro just 8 miles away. With trails cut first in 1936, Abenaki is the oldest small ski area in America. It is open to the public and offers 7 trails from green to black diamond, glade skiing, night skiing, a terrain park, and one of the fastest rope tows on the East Coast. Due to the relatively small crowds (compared to the big boys like Loon, Gunstock, and Bretton Woods), there are no lift lines, great conditions with virtually no ice and holds the small town vibe. They offer weekday lift tickets for $8 for residents and $20 for our friends from out of town.
