Check out the Sports Trails of the Ascutney Basin, one of Vermont’s premier mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, tubing and snowshoeing hot spots in the area, located in Brownsville, VT. More info can be found at the Ascutney Outdoor Center website. Great eats are to be had at the bottom of the mountain at Brownsville Butcher and Pantry, for yummy prepared sandwiches as well as groceries, wine, beer and Vermont made gifts.

It’s a bit of a distance, (plan on a half hour +), but for authentic Turkish food (and coffee! And Baklava!), it’s worth the drive. A comfortable corner location and aromatic spicy food with excellent service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations a must.
