Sightseeing

A beautiful island with gorgeous sandy beaches. Hornby Island can be reached by the ferry from Gravelly Bay to Shingle Spit. Runs approximately every hour from 7:45 am to 6:45 pm. But be careful...the last ferry back to Denman is at 6:00 pm on all days but Friday! In the summer it is quite busy - ferry lineups can be long. If you can go by bicycle you can get on more quickly.

Descend down an impressive staircase to a wild beach with an awesome view of Hornby and Texada Islands, and the majestic Coast Mountain Ranges on the mainland. (Not accessible by wheelchair). At low tide you can walk (usually with some shallow wading, so be prepared) to Jáji7em and Kw’ulh Marine Park [a.k.a. Sandy Island Marine Park] - but observe current tides as you could end up stranded if you don't time things correctly. Morning Beach and the beaches in the Marine Park are wild and beautiful, and in a near-pristine state.
