If you’re into the history of dams, this is the place to be. They also have lots of maps of the parks and walking trails. Built in 1969 by damming the Sac River, Stockton Lake history can be found here. And, it’s a beautiful drive over the water, too.

There’s a really cool bridge here called the Caplinger Mills Bridge. Built in 1895, it is one of the longest pin-connected highway truss bridges in Missouri.

This is the best place in town to pick up hiking/walking trail maps on and around Lake Stockton. Rated #1 is the Umber Ridge and Stockton Lake Lakeview trail is a moderate 7.8 mile loop. Rated #2, the Umber Ridge Trail is a moderate 1.8 mile trail. Crabtree Cove trail is rated #3 and is one of my favorites as it runs along Crabtree Cove…a beautiful setting, and you can even jump off the cliffs! It’s rated easy, and it’s 3.4 miles. #4 is Rutledge Bluff Overlook trail. It is rated hard and is 19.6 miles long. #5 is The Old Mill Fishing Pond and Trail is rated easy and it’s only .8 miles.
