City advice

Getting around

Free shuttle

Travelers can flag down a free shuttle that drives up and down the Alyeska Hwy. Alyeska Hwy is 1\2 mile walk from the rental. I recommend renting a car in Anchorage.
What to pack

Bring rain gear and waterproof walking shoes.

I suggest dressing in layers to be better prepared for any kind of weather. Bring a backpack to put extra clothing in, water and bear spray.
Customs and culture

Be bear aware.

Both black and brown bear live in Girdwood. Please keep all food items indoors behind locked doors. Do not leave garbage outside or food or garbage in vehicles. Thanks for helping us to keep our community and bears safe.
