Nature

Very close to our house, a mere 10 min walk is the natural reserve Rya Åsar. It’s a beautiful place which is very quiet as a lot of people tend to miss out on it even through it’s right in the middle of the city. It’s very hilly but the forest is mixed leaf and pine and there are several picknick-tables and look out points.

Where to eat

One of many burger joints in Borås but the one that we think are one of the two best. Homemade, with local produce and a great beer selection.

A great place to experience modern Swedish food in one of the most beautiful buildings in Borås. The staff are very friendly and the cocktails tasty. We warmly recommend the beef tenderloin, it’s to die for! In spring and summer, they also have one of the best terraces in town.

One of our favorite restaurant for a bit more fine dining. The food is inventive and tastes wonderful! Their Moscow Mule is one of the best ones we’ve had.

Probably the best restaurant in Borås serving Swedish traditional and contemporary food, the lunch never disappoints. Great views on Viskan and the central park. Nice staff and excellent food.

The only Vietnamese restaurant in town and a very good one. The restaurang itself is not so cosy but the food is great. We would recommend take-out or lunch!

Stadsdelsguide

This multicultural area is the one we call home. Since we’ve lived in many countries between the two of us, we feel right at home where there are people of all cultures and not so typically “Swedish”. Norrby has its challenges but the people are friendly, helpful and kind. The best fresh fruit, vegetables and cheese is just 50 m from our doorstep.

Abecita Art Museum hosts one of the largest private pop-art collection in the world. Along with seasonal exhibitions of photographic art. It’s located in an old bra-factory and the staff is so friendly and helpful. A must-see!

Just a stone’s throw from our house you’ll find Ramnaparken that is a recreational area but also a museum. Besides walking around the lake, you can also visit Swedish historical buildings dating centuries back. If you want to experience the Swedish “fika” you must stop by the old Inn.

The textile museum with exhibitions on both the historic legacy of the textile industry and modern exhibitions of textile artists or movements. Several interactive sections for trying out all things textile. The museum shop is also worth a visit!

This is an experience! The head-chef is the mother at this family-run Indian restaurant and the food is mind-blowing. New Indian flavours that tastes nothing like traditional Indian food as found in Europe. Also very popular so reservation is a must!
