A lovely area to walk to along a boarded path (carparks available if not on foot) .....impressive, mature gardens with magnolia and azalea trees and even giant wild rhubarb! Stroll around the lakes , visit a real blacksmith and explore the craft shops and Manor house. Cockington village is thatched mainly and very charming.

The very pretty Brixham as well as being a must visit tourist location is also a top notch working fishing port with a delightful walkway around the harbour, a long pier (the resident seal is often spotted waiting for the boats to return) numerous shops, restaurants, takeaways and a fabulous little shell shop. Return short trips by boat from Torquay to Brixham daily.

Exeter Quay is lovely, with places to sit and eat by the canal. There are some very interesting shops and cafes set into the old walls. The main Exeter city shopping area is quite nearby too.

The nearby Oddicombe beach has just been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award. The beach also has a great waterfront cafe and a 1920's cliff railway. Although this beach is not dog friendly, Babbacombe beach nearby is.

Around the point from the main sandy beach of Teignmouth is the back beach with pretty beach huts, seafood and good coffee kiosks and a pub at the end with seating outside to sit and soak up the sun. Good fresh muscles in white wine there too if, like me, you love shellfish.

Take the car ferry across from Kingswear and discover beautiful and historic Dartmouth . Many films have been shot here around the cobbled streets at Baynards Castle. ENJOY a trip on an original paddle steamer built in 1924 in Dartmouth called "The Kingswear Castle" - fabulous. Numerous other boat trips up the breathtakingly beautiful River Dart with views of the famous Brittania Naval college. Agatha Christies home is also on the river.
