Goodwood Racecourse

Things to do

In 1802 the 3rd Duke of Richmond introduced horseracing to Goodwood for the amusement of local army officers. Race week was so popular it was soon dubbed Glorious Goodwood and today the racecourse is renowned for being one of the most exciting – and is considered by many to be the most beautiful – in the world. Perched high on the Downs with stunning views towards Chichester and beyond, it enjoys an enviable location that sets it apart from other racecourses to create a truly unforgettable race day experience. 19 days of racing take place between May and October including one of the undoubted highlights of the season, the Qatar Goodwood Festival – lovingly known as ‘Glorious Goodwood’. Family fixtures take place during June and August, with entertainment for the whole family. Three Friday Nights are Goodwood’s Music & Horseracing party nights, featuring big name DJs and as the parade ring transforms into a dance floor.
