Palm Beach is lovely, but if you want to enjoy the journey along the way, this is it. Either drive there in which case the driver misses the lovely views or take the scenic route. First take a Manly ferry from Circular Quay, then from their take buses to Palm Beach. Sit towards the back of the bus for good views, as long as you enjoy a bumpy, roller-coaster ride.

When climbing up and down a mountain, railways have 2 options, either go around the mountain in a spiral or take a zig zag path. While sitting in the antique carriages, enjoy the lovely scenery. At the stations, children will love watching the locomotive race past from one end to the other to pull the train. When we visited it had the Harry Potter theme. The themes keep changing. A popular one is Thomas the Tank Engine. Take an esky and rug to hop off at scenic picnic spots. Stretch your legs and enjoy some sports, then hop back on the train when it comes around next time.
