There is a great network of groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing, and even snow shoeing on the mesa. The most popular area is Skyway trails on the Grand Mesa, maintained by the Grand Valley Nordic Counsel. Rentals can be picked up at Board and Buckle and there is no cost to access the trails. This is also a great place to snowshoe. REI offers reasonably priced snowshoe rentals, pricing dependent on whether or not you are a co-op member. Distance to trailhead, 48 miles (approximately one hour)

The Colorado National Monument is a must see and offers a wide variety of trails to explore. Some of our favorite trails include: Serpent's trail and Devil’s Kitchen trail, both located in the Colorado National Monument, which is paid entry, $25 for a seven day pass. Liberty Cap - A moderate to difficult 4.4 mile lollipop hike. The trail is within the monument but the trailhead is in a neighborhood so no access fee.

Experience western Americana at its best through thousand years of history. “Ride” in a stagecoach, “fly” a 1958 Cessna from Walker Field, or gaze upon an ancient cup and ladle from the Anasazi. Study Ute and Fremont Rock Art, see the real firearms that outlaws used, sit in a one-room schoolhouse, and visit the Pastime saloon – all at the Museum of the West!

Breakfast and lunch, some outdoor seating. Great menu, online ordering available. A fun and modern take on breakfast with plenty of healthy options. If you do want to indulge though, try the cinnamon roll, it’s amazing (and they often sell out).

This is the splurge night out place. They do not accept reservations. Outdoor dining available in your own personal greenhouse or open patio, depending on the season. This is one of three restaurants owned by a local family, all are excellent and worth trying. The chef, Josh Neirnberg, is featured in the spring issue of “Spoke and Blossom”, our local magazine, which can be found on the entry table inside the house. The other restaurants in this family are Taco Party and Bin Burger, both also downtown.
