It is rich in history and has done an excellent job of preserving that history. Montgomery host Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Bases that contain the War College, and Air Command And Staff College. Montgomery also has colleges and universities. Alabama Shakespeare theater is a beautiful place that offers theater, gardens and a art museum.
The Montgomery Zoo is a wonderful place to just spend a day. Something is always going on. The Capitol and Archive of Natural History is time beautifully spent. Anything one feels like eating is available in Montgomery.

Capitol Heights is on the hill above downtown. Houses were built by upper middle and middle class residents. Gorrie Lumber and Building Company built many of them. He built Craft Houses to display the newest designs or materials available at the time.
