Useful phrases
High Altitude
It is important to understand and anticipate the potential of altitude sickness. It is estimated that nearly half the visitors from lower elevations may experience some form of altitude illness. Symptoms include fatigue, decreased appetite, shortness of breath with minimal exertion, nausea, headache, and sleep disturbances. These symptoms are often worse the second day at altitude but resolve soon after. Aspirin or ibuprofen often provide relief. Tips: Drink lots of Water, Rest and be careful while drinking alcohol make sure to also drink water.
What to pack
Pack for outdoor adventures
No matter what season you visit Leadville, make sure you pack layers which include coats, sweatshirts and pants. The nights and early mornings can be cooler in the mountains.
Recommended footwear: sneakers, hiking boots and winter boots.
