The Keeper of the Plains is a must-see and a staple to Wichita's culture. The landmark is a 44-foot tall steel sculpture standing at the point where the Big and Little Arkansas rivers join together in downtown Wichita, sacred land to Native Americans who populated the area. The Keeper of the Plains Plaza now brings people out each evening to see the Keeper and the lit fire pots that surround it, known as the Ring of Fire. You can see the lighting of the flames at 7pm in Fall and Winter and 9pm in Summer and Spring.

This beautiful mural on the north Wichita grain elevator is not only the largest mural in the world painted by a single artist, but also holds the Guinness World Record. The mural is part of the Horizontes Project, an artist-driven effort in Wichita aimed at connecting two underrepresented neighborhoods – the predominantly Latino NorthEnd and historically African American Northeast, both of which are separated by large grain elevators along the industrial corridor. The mural features people of color looking toward the horizon, conveying a sense of hopefulness and vibrancy. The people depicted in the Grain Elevator mural either live in the NorthEnd or used to live in the NorthEnd and make up the foundation of the neighborhood. The artist GLeo, a female muralist from Colombia, painted the mural, which can be found near 21st & Broadway streets.
