A 2.5km loop walk around the lough, of which almost 1km is suitable for wheelchairs. The route includes boardwalk sections, allowing you closer glimpses into the lough depths and wildlife. It is a beautiful, peaceful walk taking in open water, reedbeds and small pockets of wet woodland. Great course fishing, picnic benches for barbecuing and the chance to feed the ducks.

City/town information

Vibrant Monaghan town has lots to offer. Foodies will love the excellent restaurants. My favourites are Eastern Balti House for the best Indian food in Ireland and The Batch Loaf for traditional dishes blended with contemporary dining. The Garage Theatre is a busy venue for shows & performances. With a cinema, swimming pool and numerous independent boutiques, there is always something to do in Monaghan town.
