On the way over in Olowalu, a good place to eat is Leoda's. I would say don't buy anything from the fruit stand next to it. It is a total tourist trap. Expensive and not local produces. I will tell you where to go for local produce.

Most popular shave ice to both tourist and locals. There are a few around the island so you don't have to eat in this one. I recommend getting the Macademian nut ice cream to go with it on the bottom of the ice cream. It melts the whole experience together. You won't regret it! My favorite syrup flavor combination is Calamansi (a lime ish flavor) with Green Tea. I know... this isn't a usual combination but hear me out! If you are someone who does not like the artificial too sweet taste of fruit syrup (eg of the fake cherry on the top of the cake), which in my opinion, most of the other syrup taste like, this combination will give the right amount of refreshing feel, but still sweet and hearty enough if you get that macademia nut ice cream.

Local food - Maui Fish'n Chips, the very best quick bite seafood and teriyaki place on the island (about $10-15 per person)

Maui Bread Company in the same plaza as Fish n Chip. Definitely the best bakery on the island with super reasonable prices. So eat a meal and go for dessert.

Expensive but worth it Japanese meal at Wailea. Either way, stop by Morimoto to grab a sunset, coffee and donut. It is the best donut anywhere I have ever eaten. And I don't even like donuts.

City/town information

Walk through historical Lahaina. It was the capital of Hawaii for a long time. Many small shops and eateries. Don’t miss out the famous Ululani's Shave Ice on the northern end of front street, a must eat dessert.

Kaanapoli is a touristy busy area. However, there is a few miles of walk that connects all the resorts together. It is a nice walk especially after a meal. If you are in this area, there is another Ululani's Shave Ice location here in the Hyatt Resort on the south end of the walk.

Sightseeing

there is a parking lot across the road and there is a hiking trail there. A good place to hike. On sunny days, you should be able to see waterfall at distance during the hike.

- one of the best volcanic beach in Hawaii. Wear close toe shows because the rocks are sharp. Walk in as long as you can handle it. It really is an amazing place of uncommon beauty. If you go far enough, you will see white coral beaches. You might also run into some wild black goats.

Lots of tourists but its cause it is still one of the best hikes, with one of the biggest bamboo forest in the world. Bigger than the one in kyoto!

If you do the Haleakala sunrise (this is where you use the National Park pass again, or remember to do pipiwai trail within 3 days of this one), I recommend do a 3AM wake up. Drive up to the summit and watch stars, then the sunrise. One the way down you can eat in Maui Lavender Cafe. They open at 7AM (not the same as Alii Lavender Farm). Remember, you need to get online to get a reservation. If you can't get a sunrise reservation, do not fret. sunset is exactly the same but the sun goes in the opposite direction. In this case I'd recommend getting there 1 hour before sunset to walk around a bit and stay a bit after sunset to see the stars if it is a clear day. Also you do not need to go to the summit to see the sunrise/sunset. The summit scene has more buildings/structures that is obstructing your amazing sun view.
