Nice place to run or hike if it's super hot or windy. There is a short board walked path to the sound with a nice view. There is also a 1.65 mile loop to the right after you get on the boardwalk

City advice

Getting around

Driving on the beach... we are 3 miles down off the road.

You'll need a 4x4 or AWD with at least 8 inches of clearance. Air down tires at the Whalehead club (you can air up for free there too) Air down to 20 psi to improve driving in the sand.
Don't miss

False Cape hike at the Carolina/Va. border on the beach.

Drive on the beach north at low tide about 7 miles and park at the border fence. Pack a back pack with lunch and drinks and hike the false cape trail. It has lots of maritime history! Beautiful!
Getting around

4x4 tips

If you are staying at "An Ode to Joy" , you will need a 4 WD or AWD to get there as the last leg of your trip here is riding in 3.5 miles of beautiful beach along the Atlantic Ocean! (Air your tires down in town to at least 20psi... you can go lower for more traction if needed). You can air Down at food lion or Harris teeter when you pick up your groceries. When you head home, you can air up for free at Corolla park.
