This is a fantastic place for a picnic or just for chilling out. The Kymin is a hill right on the edge of Monmouth, overlooking the ancient market town. Run by the National Trust, it hosts an unusual completely round, white house, which is a local landmark, as it can be seen from almost anywhere in Monmouth. Admiral Nelson visited the Kymin three years before his death at the Battle of Trafalgar. As well as the round house, there is also an unusual 200 year-old naval temple

A lovely 13th century church, incorporating parts of an earlier 9th century church, sitting alongside the banks of the River Wye at Whitchurch. It's easily within walking distance, and can be incorporated into a riverside walk. To get to the church, walk (or drive) down the road, take the flyover over the dual carriageway, following it all the way to the roundabout. Turn right at the roundabout and you will go past The Butterfly Zoo and The Old Court, and you will find the road bends sharply to the right. On this bend, you will see the entrance to the Caravan site, and immediately to the left is a narrow lane leading up to the church.

Not too far away, The Bell is located on the bends of the river at Skenfrith - a fantastic setting with pebble beach on the shallow river, which is very popular for paddling in the summer, and a castle, which has free parking and is free to enter.
