Cowboy "Happenin's"...and that ain't no bull!

This is where you go when it gets too quiet for you. It's about 6 minutes down the road. The Roadrunner gives you the real flavor of the locals and hosts year round professional bull riding on the weekends. You can watch them practice for free on Thursday nights. Weekends provide live music and dancing. The restaurant opens at 10AM for breakfast... if you can wait that long.

From our place, take the 45 minute drive to Wickenburg. You will want to check out Lake Pleasant on your way as you drive right by it. Swimming, boating, camping are all options. Or keep driving to more of the Old West. Wickenburg is the team roping capital of the world. A little farther on and you are close enough to visit the Vulture City Ghost town, a deserted mining town from the late 1800's. At this point you may be asking "Why the water pictures?" We live in the desert. You figure it out.

South of Cave Creek is Scottsdale. North Scottsdale has loads of exclusive (expensive) shopping options. Downtown old Scottsdale has more of that western feel. If you are here in February, the annual Parada Del Sol Historic Parade is a popular attraction, which ends with a huge block party for all ages, featuring live concerts, pony rides for kids and more.
