A spectacular medieval building steeped in history and the burial place of King Edward II. Of particular interest is the elaborate fan vaulting of the cloisters (the first use of this architectural style in the country). Gloucester Cathedral was a popular film location for Harry Potter films. Entrance is free (a donation is requested on entry). The Monk's Kitchen is a nice cafe to stop at.
