Salt River is absolutely beautiful, and one of my favorite places to spend the day to get a break from the hot summer heat. There are places you can have a picnic and get cool. You will need a Tonto Forest pass, sold at Big 5 and gas stations. $10 for the day, per car.

Lots of unique food, music, shopping and art. I recommend taking an Uber as this is a big event which makes finding parking difficult. Event is only on the 1st Friday of every month. Best time to go is Nov-April, summer is too hot for this outdoor venue.
