Dubrovnik as the symbol of the white stone beauty is now known as the Pearl of the Adriatic. It has retained the medieval walls so perfectly and that is the reason why Dubrovnik is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. The City of Dubrovnik is completely surrounded with defensive walls and forts including the Old Port in length of 1940 meters ( 6365 feet ).
Dubrovnik Old Town is known as one of the world’s finest and most perfectly preserved medieval cities in the world. For centuries, Dubrovnik rivalled Venice as a trading port, with its huge sturdy stone walls, built between the 11th and 17th centuries, affording protection to this former city-state.
Today, these walls still enclose Dubrovnik’s historic centre and it is possible to walk along them to enjoy the best views of the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’ and the surrounding lush green islands. Dubrovnik’s Baroque churches, monasteries and palaces; its Renaissance fountains and facades, are all intertwined with gleaming wide marble-paved squares, steep cobbled streets and houses, all of which have also remained unchanged for centuries.

Cavtat is a unique town on the Adriatic, an old city situated on the hilly part of the wooded peninsula Rat. There are new settlements along the coast, and the whole of Cavtat is overgrown by Mediterranean vegetation, with the ever green pine and cypress trees. There are more than 5 miles (7 km) of sandbanks, clean sea water, sand beaches and bays, fine new hotels of high and luxury class, and all this has made Cavtat one of the most sought after and visited tourist resorts in the Dubrovnik area.
The special charm of this old city are the buildings that have remained from the time of the old Dubrovnik Republic. This city was also built according to the regulation plans prescribed by the Republic, and the result was the present-day look of the old part of Cavtat. A larger part of the monuments of history and culture belong to the fine but modest Renaissance architecture with some traces of the Gothic style: the Rector's palace, fortifications, city walls round the city, squares, St. Nicholas' church, the church dedicated to Our Lady of Cavtat and the Franciscan monastery.

The beach in Kupari is a mixture of pebbles and sand. Apart from enjoyment of crystal clear sea, sun bathing and simple beach leisure Kupari beach has a lovely beach bar and a simple beach volleyball court.
