City/town information

Roslyn has a charming main street with a couple of stellar coffee shops, a bookstore, a brewery, distillery, ice creamery and a couple of burger/sandwich joints. There's a grocery store right in town with fresh produce, beer and wine, toiletries, quick bites, and all the essentials for a home cooked meal. In the summers, you'll find live music and movie nights in the Roslyn yard. Lots to do - Rent a mountain bike or snow shoes or sit in for a whiskey tasting. We first fell in love with the area for backpacking and the local lake, where you can drive right onto the beach for a picnic. There's quite a few shops around to browse home goods, hand blown glass, and even a tiny salt & soap shop by the post office.

Basecamp is one of our favorite spots in town. Excellent coffee, a colorful bookstore, and delicious healthy lunch options are just some of the things they offer. Head downstairs for a speak-easy, craft cocktails, and trivia nights on Wednesdays. Take your lunch out back to sit by the fire, or order from the taco truck in the Roslyn yard. There's also an ice chest with beers, kombucha and lavender lemonade. If you're looking for a gift, they have candles, hats, camping kits, bags, board games, chocolates, ornaments and more. We even pick up our CSA box here in the summers. Our favorite meal? The sweet potato scramble with sage and herbed goat cheese for breakfast. Or the vegan munchwrap with cashew queso and a Brookside lager for local flavor.

Suncadia is an idyllic spot where people come to to get a dose of sunshine in the winter, and it's a beautiful escape. What stands out is their many resort level restaurants and the beautiful Swiftwater winery. Our favorite things to do: - Breakfast at Portals - the eggs benedict is to die for - Sit in the wingback chairs in the main lodge with a book and a hot chocolate from the cafe - Lunch at the Stovehouse. Try the deviled eggs for apps, the beet salad or the waygu burger with bacon jam. - Do a wine tasting at Swiftwater (the Syrah is my personal favorite, and they do a wonderful Thanksgiving pairing tasting and again at Christmas). They also offer cocktails and charcuterie as well as lunch and dinner fare. Sit by the fire out back for some fresh air. - Dinner at Portals - epic views and delicious food. Family friendly too! Our favorites are the baked french brie, panzanella salad and the bacon wrapped scallops.

This place is an icon - come for burgers and brews after a long backpacking trip and end up moving here, like we did. They also have really good fries, live music, pool and shuffle board. Try the Brick burger for a little heat or the turkey avocado sandwich, always a fave.

Dru Bru! The best brewery around. We love their amber, seasonal cider and especially the hazy. This is a favorite spot to kick back with friends, take first time visitors, or play some lawn games to kill a perfect weekend afternoon. There’s a food truck if you get hungry and a really cool outdoor space to enjoy the views. Whole place is family friendly.

An adorable miniature wine shop. There’s just two tables where you’ll rub elbows with locals and visitors alike. The owners are amazing and offer tastings, pours by the glass or local bottles to pair with your dinner plans. A favorite spot and trust us - if the vibe is good, they’ll stay open a little later than listed.

Great local spot for Mexican fare featuring pre-Hispanic cuisine. The flautas, enchiladas verdes y molcajete are our go-to orders. They also have a very fun tequila tasting and a coconut mint margarita. Okay now I’m hungry.

It may not look like much but this spot is a great stop for lunch or dinner. Really good food and lots of veggies in their dishes. I know it’s cliche but I can’t say no to the pad Thai with peanut sauce and a Thai iced tea. Favorite for takeout if you want to cozy up back at the BNB!

The kind of bakery you’ll dream about. We stop by often for their fresh bread and baguettes. Try a sweet roll like the caramel nut ring or the cinnamon walnut - worth every bite!

If you mixed a convenience store with a co-op, this is what you would get. They have everything from fresh produce to pantry staples, beer/wine, frozen, sandwiches and even toiletries. My favorite part is the little bulk bar they have with pasta, rice, cereal, etc. where you can get exactly what you need, with less packaging. They're somewhat open to byo container, just depending on COVID, length of line at the time, etc. but they are all super friendly. Great produce, high quality meat/eggs/dairy, and all the basics for a home cooked meal, all within a 5 minute walk from our apartment.

One of our favorite dinner spots, about 5 minute drive on your way towards Cle Elum. It's all organic and made from scratch. Favorite apps - the scallops and the brussel sprouts. Just get both. For entrees, we'd recommend stuffed spaghetti squash, the chicken marsala, the carbonara, or the braised short rib. Pair with local draft beers or local wine. They've got a kids menu as well.

Swiftwater is an absolutely beautiful place. They offer generous wine tastings and feature special pairing flights for planning your Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. The Syrah is my personal favorite, with notes of lavender and cardamom. They also offer cocktails and charcuterie as well as lunch and dinner fare. The persimmon & prosciutto flatbread is delicious as is the beet and persimmon salad with flat iron steak, but truly you can't go wrong. Cozy up in a booth or sit by the fires out back for some fresh air and sunshine.

This is one of our favorite places to recreate. Our favorite thing about Suncadia is that all of their trails are free and open to the public and they maintain them year round. We'll often take couples and family friends to play in the snow or go for a long walk followed by lunch at the lodge. My girlfriends and I will do the 1,000 steps down to the river to walk off a cheeseboard or wine flight. It's so pretty every time of year, and there's something for everyone. Most of the trails are relatively flat and gentle, which is great for hikers and bikers of all levels. Nelson farm has axe throwing, archery and fun activities for kids like the yearly pumpkin patch festival. For a more relaxing day, head to Glade Spring spa for a treatment.

This is a really cool and quirky museum. What makes it so unique is that it tells individual people’s stories as part of the towns history instead of broad overviews of a time. It’s carefully curated and volunteer run, open winter saturdays 11-3.

This location also offers event rooms, alcohol to purchase and take home, and if you become a member, they let you make your own whiskey aged in a barrel!

A super cute candy shop right out of the 50's. They offer an array of fudge, custom made chocolates and confections, vintage candies and local ice cream from Winegar's. Such a fun treat for a sunny day - be sure to ask about the history of the building. It used to be a bank and the vault is still intact...
