Food scene

Great craft beer, food and local news and views of Western PEI! Located about 15 minutes from The Riverside Loft, you can also pick up a "growler" of your favourite and bring it "home" for later! The food - from nacho platter to pizza to brisket - has never disappointed! Best to give a quick call to make sure Eric is open and to check out the "special" of the day. All beer is good :) and Eric names his beer with some memorable monikers, such as; "Shitz and Giggles" and "Draggin Anchor." You can now find Moth Lane beer in our PEI Liquor stores if you cannot make it to the brewery.

I think they have the best French fries on the island, plus, who wouldn't like to have a photo taken with a big potato? No need to photoshop those vacation pictures!

Tyne Valley Teas Cafe has (what I would call) an "eclectic" feel. Along with a tastefully created menu and (some sweet!) desserts, you can find work(s) from local artisans. It is a cozy atmosphere for an intimate brunch! It's located in an old house on the Main Street in Tyne Valley - it has all been refinished with some spectacular wood-working!

Close at hand, Kenny's is located about 10 minutes away in Ellerslie. The menu is a fast food type and the desserts are some of our old favourites, such as a "flurrie" (Mike's fav is the black forrest) and hard (and soft) ice cream! If you haven't figured out how much islanders love their ice cream...Kenny's is a good place to start!

Love Chinese food? Ming Wang is located approximately 20 minutes away from The Riverside Loft in Bloomfield. Don't let appearances fool you....this little restaurant has to be some of the best Chinese food on the island. We are enthusiastic supporters of Chrystal and her family - we usually visit the restaurant or "take out" at least once a month. Lots of good food on the menu... some of the best Wonton Soup (Kim's fav) EVER. Mike just loves it all :)

What spectacular views! Enjoy the restaurant and (perhaps) the seals at play. The best "reds" our island has to offer! From the PEI visitor's guide: "Witness the meeting of the waters over the longest natural rock reef in North America. Enjoy the Black Marsh Nature Trail, seal watching and the all new Wind Energy Interpretive Centre. Pick up a souvenir in our gift shops, enjoy a sunset meal in the Wind & Reef Restaurant."

Located sea side, the community of Mount Carmel has one of the largest churches I think I have haver seen. It's imposing stature is seen from miles away on Route 11. If you are in for some PEI history, there is an Acadian cemetery located next to the church where PEI history remains rich on every tombstone.
