Hagaparken (or just Haga) is part of the Nationalstadsparken and is located just north of Stockholm, in Solna. Built 1780-1797 by Gustav III, this oasis is one of Sweden's most visited outdoor areas. In addition to lots of beautiful places to walk, there are several historical landmarks to visit. Chinese Temple, Turkish Kiosk and Royal Cemetery to name a few. It is also here, at Haga Castle, that Crown Princess Victoria and her family have their residence. https://www.visitstockholm.se/o/hagaparken/

Skeppsholmen is one of Stockholm’s hidden gems of the city’s islands Most tourists don’t know about this island, and even locals don’t always bother taking the trip across town. It is a tribute the Stockholms naval tradition and also a microcosm of the archipelago

One of older areas of Stockholm, Råsunda is a peaceful corner of the city, with a mix of traditional Swedish buildings, bumped up against the modern. There are some great restaurants here from great sushi to traditional Swedish as well as ramen house, cafes and more. All of this just a couple of minutes walk away from the apartment

City advice

Getting around

Public transport in Sweden is great, buy an SL day pass

For a single journey you can just use your contactless card or Apple / Google Pay on your phone as well. For better value for money, get a day pass, it cost about the same as 2 journeys https://sl.se/en/in-english/fares--tickets/visitor-tickets
Customs and culture

Take your shoes off when invited into someone's house

Free your feet, free your mind. Mainly as a result of the proper wintery winters, in Scandinavia you cannot really wear your outdoor shoes inside, or else you drag in slushy snow and drip icy puddles everywhere, and this whole “taking your shoes off inside” thing carried over for the rest of the year too
Customs and culture

Fika!

Fika, the delightful custom of enjoying a coffee and a treat with friends, is as Swedish as ABBA. Surely it’s just a coffee break? Not quite. It’s much more than that.
Ways to save

fresh bread from Lidl in Solna Centrum is good value

An unlikely place to find amazing fresh bread, but Lidl in Solna Centrum have a fantastic bakery in store. If you want to save a little money, bread from here is cheaper and better than the other supermarkets in the area.
Customs and culture

Systembolaget for wine and stronger drinks

Supermarkets only sell alcohol up to 3.5% and alcohol free drinks. If you want wine or spirits, then you will need to go to Systembolaget
