Sightseeing

South Shore is home to beautiful beaches, the South Shore Cultural Center & Golf Course ( possibly being rebranded soon as the " Tiger Woods Golf Course" ) as well as scenic lakefront Trails. Its proximity to the newly updated Lake shore drive means a dreamy 9 mile drive to downtown. Several South Shore neighborhoods house beautiful historic architecture that was once lived in by some of Chicago’s most prominent residents. As a neighbor to Hyde Park andvJackson Park, South shore is within minutes of great culture, food, shopping and Nightlife! I love walking the local trails, particularly the ones that begin on 67th and taking it all in- there is boating and fishing along that stretch. Famous residents such as Kanye West and Michelle Obama once called the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago home. The South Shore Cultural Center has been a place for visiting celebrities to retreat and relax, and it’s where President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama got married. Once known as the South Shore Country Club, this center, which totals almost 65 acres, features the Paul Robeson Theaters, the Washburne Culinary Institute, and the Parrot Cage Restaurant. The club has a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, a bowling green, stables, and a private beach on Lake Michigan- we encourage you to visit the beach while youre here....FYI...its behind the building. South siders will here will tell you that you must try Italian Fiesta Pizzeria - which is a GREATBchicago favorite - however the BEST pizza is really a hole in the wall called Margaritas (delivery STRONGLY recommended ) . If you want to eat like a south sider other classics are Harolds chicken ( get the mild sauce!!!), and Kennedy's ( gyros, pizza puffs, philly steaks, etc . again order delivery or PU) If you're jonesing for Chinese check out the famous " House of Bing".

Sightseeing, Shopping, food, Culture, Night -Life

Hyde Park is home to the University of Chicago, Barack Obama’s Chicago home, gorgeous green space, and access to the sandy lakefront, plentiful cultural offerings, and a lively mix of community-focused locals. Strolling down Hyde Park’s tree-lined streets, you might spot chess players in the park, artists painting murals or students running to class in massive, gothic buildings. This eclectic quality gives the Southside neighborhood a small-town feel in the middle of a big, dynamic city. The restaurants are great - and are sure to delight even the pickiest of palettes - ( a few of my personal faves are Chant, 14 Pharish ,Ascione Bistro, and Virtue, however most places are good here) there is plenty of shopping and Nightlife . If you're down for a night in the town , have dinner at the Promontory then go upstairs to the club , have a few drinks and dance it off! If you want to keep the party going make our best Dive Bar- The Falcon inn your last stop. If youre lucky you can catch one of the great festivals that take lace each summer Hyde Park also features the museum of science and industry ( one of the "fun "museums in chicago ) as well as the beautiful Japanese Gardens ) one of my favorite parks ( I call it parakeet park because of all the parakeets there) off 53rd - Im not sure what its called but its big and has tons of activities for younger kids. Additionally its next to the lake shore drive trails and across the street from the lakefront.

Hosting quaint (and unexpected, given its proximity to the towering skyscrapers of the Loop) single-family homes and high-rises that soar above the city, the South Loop is as comfortable as it is forward thinking. While the constant flow of college students and office workers fill the neighborhood during the day, at night the neighborhood transitions into a quiet enclave in the shadows of the city's most iconic buildings. Home to one of the most exciting restaurant scenes in the city, front row access to Grant Park, and the city's most famous museums, the South Loop offers a combination of amenities and serenity unmatched by most urban neighborhoods. South Loop is home to quite a few late-night bars and pubs. Buddy Guy's Legends is a neighborhood staple for live blues music, while Reggies Rock bar and restaurant ( local fave) hosts local and touring rock bands. Residents can also catch a show at a local theater or an occasional concert at Soldier Field, home to the Chicago Bears.Head to Yolk for their creative brunch stylings or toss around a frisbee in Grant Park, one of Chicago's largest green spaces. The South Loop also puts you within walking distance of the picturesque lakefront, a perfect destination for jogging or reading. Of course, all of Downtown Chicago’s attractions are short distance away as well.
