Museum

If you want to learn some interesting history about Fort Bragg, ASOM is the place to go. Check out downtown Fayetteville for local shops and restaurants while you're there. BTW: The picture of the man you see with the read beard on deployment on the front inside wall is not Tim. It sure looks like him when he was deployed. He swears that's not his helmet!

Farmers Market

Visit our best local farmers market for local food and locally made products and gifts!
Sundays from April to November: This is the biggest farmers market around here. It's dog and family friendly. Bring a chair or a blanket to sit and listen to music. Get a meal from Napkins or a local food truck. Buy your meats, veggies, and other local goods. I highly recommend checking out The Sudsy Nun; get local soaps, lotions, and other goods to take home as gifts or to gift to yourself! There's always a lot to see at the market and many dogs to pet!

There are a few trailheads to access the All American Trail. It is not paved. After about the first mile from the Hobson Road trailhead, which is the closest to the cottage, you're immersed in nature. It's great for a run, walk, or hike if you like hills. It is quite peaceful and dog friendly.

The Stone family are great, hospitable people! Go fishing in a private pond so you don't have to purchase a license through NC. Whatever you catch is what you keep. It is only $5 a pound for live fish and $5.75 a pound if you want them to clean the fish. No catch and release; keep what you catch and make it for dinner or take it home with you in a cooler! You have to bring your own fishing pole. We have one at the cottage you can borrow if you give us notice so we can get it to you. They also have two live tanks -- one with tilapia, one with catfish. They can clean them for you any way you like. They can also get whatever is in season from the coast here in Carolina. They are open every day from 9-5. The fishing wraps up at 4:30. They open at 8 AM on the weekends. You can find them on Facebook at Cedar Creek Fish Farm, on their website at www.cedarcreekfishfarm.net, or at Dirtbags Farmers Market every Sunday from April to November.

This is my favorite local store. I could spend an afternoon there reading all of the cute cards in stock. There’s always something surprising or something that will make a great gift… unless I decide to keep it for myself!
