Large outdoor patio is dog friendly. There can be a wait during peak hours, but its usually less than other places because they have a large space. Their burgers are great and they share a space with a brewery, so there's a great beer selection, too.

This animal hospital has a 24hr ER. They are excellent at what they do, great with dogs and humans, and I have never waited an extremely long time for my do to be seen. They do tend to cost more, but they have lots of services available.

This is the closest trail to the house (less than 1 mile. Take it west through parks, and the historic town of Golden or East to a network of trails which take you north or south through Downtown Denver. Paved and great for dogs on leash.

40 minute drive to Nederland. Beautiful trail that is moderately challenging. Park in Nederland and take the shuttle (that is dog friendly) to the trailhead (this was is operation pre-covid so please verify it still is before you go). Also check out Nederland for its great fun and interesting personality, including Dead Man Days (yep - a guy cryogenically preserved himself and the town celebrates him via an annual festival).

Just about all trails outside of the National Park are dog friendly. This one is just a 17-minute drive - not far from the house, just west of Golden. It is a moderate trail, which is great for a dog and person who can manage physical activity but isn't used to challenging hikes. Bring water for you and your dog. If your dog has a thick coat, this may not be for you in the summer - Golden, Boulder and Redrocks can get uncomfortably hot for these types of dogs. Try hiking higher elevations instead.

Dogs on Trails

The Rocky Mountains provide an amazing landscape for vacationers and visitors. It is generally easy for you and your dog to explore of Colorado’s many trails, but please note that National Parks, such as Rocky Mountain National Park, do not allow dogs in the backcountry or on any of the trails. In my own experience, I've driven Trail Ridge Road keeping my dogs in the car with no issue. On dog friendly trails in CO, please expect to keep your dog on leash unless it is clearly stated at the trailhead that dogs can be off leash. Remember your dog poop bags and don't leave them on the trail.
