Most romantic place in Bruges: Minnewaterpark, the lake of love ('minnen' translates to 'to love' in Dutch). Make sure to visit the Beguinage (Begijnhof) in silence.

The St-Johns Hospital now serves as a museum. The building and the exterior (courtyard) are still wonderfully intact. If you visit the museum, you also have acces to the old pharmacy on the site. you don't need a ticket to see the exterior of the building.

Here you can find one of the most quiet places to picnic or have a walk in Bruges. De Gezelletuin is the garden where poet Guido Gezelle spent a lot of his time writing. I recommend going to spend some time on the benches and walking around the mills in the area. (Don't visit the museum, not worth it) open from Tuesday to Sunday 9:30-22:00

beautiful interior, with a view over the Rozenhoedkaai. They offer a breakfast buffet for €15. Lunch and dinner are quite pricey but you can have a coffee during the afternoon to enjoy the interior that way. if you do want to have lunch or dinner, make sure to book a table enough time beforehand, to sit next to the windows.

KAAP is a must see arts centre for those interested in performance arts and music. Often in collaboration with Cactus Muziekcentrum they organise events in Bruges and Oostende. In Oostende you can find their beautiful venue, which is also a coffee bar! Link to their program: https://www.kaap.be/toont

City/town information

Damme is a small village at a distance of 6 kilometres from Bruges. You can ask me to use the bikes to go there via the route next to the canal. In Damme I recommend Tante Marie, de Siphon and Stichting Ijsberg.

City advice

Ways to save

Don't buy French fries on the market square

Places for French fries I can recommend in the city centre are: Chez Vincent, Frietfarm, De Gentpoorte and Godfriet (nearby the train station. The French fries on the market square are double the regular price and not tasty.
Don't miss

Go for a walk early in the morning

I strongly suggest going outside during the morning to walk and explore Bruges to see the city wake up. Schools usually start at 8-8:30. On Wednesday mornings, until 12:00, there is the grocery market on the Market Square. On Saturday mornings, until 12:00, there is the grocery market on 't Zand, the square next to Concertgebouw.
Don't miss

Wednesday market

There's a grocery market every Wednesday morning from 8:00-12:00 on the market square, definitely worth it to go outside early and have a look!
Ways to save

The butcher on the corner of the street

At the butcher on the corner of the street you can buy relatively cheap large sandwiches! Usually they’ll be around €3,50 and they’re a better option then those of the supermarket.
