Costruita tra il 118 e 138 d.C. da Adriano (Publius Aelius Hadrianus). La Villa comprende edifici residenziali, terme, ninfei, padiglioni, giardini che si alternano secondo una distribuzione del tutto inusuale, che non rispecchia la consueta sequenza di ville e domus, anche imperiali. La Villa si distribuì su un’area di almeno 120 ettari. Per realizzare un complesso così grandioso Adriano decise di spostare la propria residenza fuori della capitale, scegliendo un territorio verde e ricco di acque, nei pressi di Tivoli. Il santuario di Ercole Vincitore è uno dei maggiori complessi sacri dell'architettura romana in epoca repubblicana.Situato a Tivoli, venne edificato nel corso del II secolo a.C. Si tratta di una struttura di dimensioni imponenti, realizzata con una serie di terrazzamenti, a picco sul fiume Aniene. L’area sacra si sviluppò lungo un’antica percorrenza di transumanza, in seguito formalizzata come via Tiburtina. Si tratta di una struttura di dimensioni imponenti, realizzata con una serie di terrazzamenti, a picco sul fiume Aniene. According to a legend, it was built by Emperor Constantine, apparently over the ruins of the ancient Forum Tiburtino. The original apse is still visible on the outside of the religious building. Inside the cathedral there are three masterpieces: the "wooden group of the Deposition of Christ from the Cross", masterpiece of Romanesque art dating 13th century; the "Silver Case" of the 15th century; and the "Trittico del Salvatore - Triptych of the Redeemer" depicting Christ, the Virgin and St. John the Evangelist, 12th century.
