River Rafting!! 40 + years in business, Los Rios River Runners offer visitors rafting and camping trips on the Rio Grande River. More adventurous guests can take white water rafting trips over rapids, or you can choose to camp in the wilderness in the stunning Rio Chama Canyon. The guides are from the Native Pueblo Indian community and also offer visitors Feast and Float Trips, which include rafting and dining opportunities for those looking to enjoy a calmer rafting experience. There are short or half day tours and less intense choices for families with children. The trips also offer the chance to enjoy the local scenery and learn about the flora and fauna of Taos. Living and thriving for more than 1000 years, Taos Pueblo is the only Native American living community that is designated as both a National Historic Landmark and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. About 150 Puebloan live in the Pueblo today permanently. Since tradition demands no electricity and no running water in the pueblo, most families come to the old pueblo for the ceremonies and live in more modern homes on the pueblo land or elsewhere. http://taospueblo.com Address: 120 Veterans Hwy, Taos, New Mexico 87571, Phone: 575-758-1028

It is truly breathtaking when you see this flat Mesa for miles and suddenly a crack in the Earth 565 deep to the Rio Grande River. To witness it from the center of the bridge is intoxicating and a feeling of floating over the gorge. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rio_Grande_Gorge_Bridge

Carved Caves by Ra Paulette “Windows of the Earth” at Origin Resort just West of Ojo Caliente. (1:15 from Casita) You will love this tour. Jill is great! She can also arrange a private tour with an hour sound bath if you give her notice.. (*FYI*The first ever Earthship is right across the street from Casita Benitez.) The Earthship Biotecture World Headquarters and Visitor Center is something of a rarity; it is a museum built to showcase sustainability through “earthships,”sustainably built living quarters. There is a purpose built gallery area where visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour of an earthship that serves to provide education on environmental issues such as recycled water and solar power. https://www.earthshipglobal.com
