Oxford is one of the oldest and most celebrated university towns in Europe. Oxford has plenty of tourist attractions, including the 14th century Carfax Tower, offering superb views over the city, and the historic Covered Market with its excellent shopping as well as many beautiful walks around the city. Harry Potter fans may be interested to learn that various Oxford landmarks appeared in the movies, including Christ Church College, where the dining room was closely copied for the Hogwarts Great Hall. The nearby Modern Art Oxford, a visual art gallery focusing on exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, regularly offers talks, music, and movies. Big Ben is probably the world's most famous clock. That iconic silhouette is instantly recognisable and is one of the most Instagrammed landmarks on the planet. Six monarchs and 41 prime ministers have come and gone since the bells first struck their now familiar music across Westminster. It is currently not in operation as the clock is undergoing renovation but it can still be noticed from the north end of the Palace of Westminster.
