We don´t go there to hang out very often, but it is a nice shopping mall near the harbor. There is a free ferry for passengers that takes you across the Oslo fjord to Moss in about 30 minutes. For a fee you can also bring your car. www.basto-fosen.no

(18 minutes drive) This is a lovely, white-painted holiday town on the shores of the Oslo fjord. Edvard Munch painted several of his most famous works here, and you can actually see the bridge and the tree from "The girls on the bridge", which is right on the pier. Walk the narrow streets, enjoy the small-town architecture - and get robbed on the insanely expensive but a bit charming Munch Cafe, and try their signature sandwhiches and "munker" (some sort of donut-y thing).
