Diana beach road is now well lit and new pedestrian paths have been created, so walking on the beach road is now possible, and there are lots of curio shops to explore and support the local traders.
For visits to Kisite Marine Park I would recommend PiliPipa dhow safaris who do an excellent day tour, on a traditional dhow,with diving,snorkelling,and lunch.
Shimba hills National park is a lovely day out, and there is an excellent place to stay overbite called the Shimba hills Lodge,with wonderful walkways through the forest.

The current management do an excellent job, and I have heard great reviews. It is a bit on the expensive side, but well worth the experience.

Check out the sushi restaurant next door to Kokkos,the new Tapas bar opposite, and Havanas,a chain from Nairobi,that does excellent pizzas, food and cocktails with a nice outdoor seating area.

It has a great selection of high quality items and curios from around Africa,not just your usual run of the mill stuff,so definently worth having a look. There are also lots of other good shops for supplies,health foods, booking offices and pharmacies in the same area.

Ukunda is the nearest local town,a 1km drive up Palm Avenue. At the junction you are now in Ukunda. Its a great little place to wander around, look at the local markets, and find lots of interesting things for good prices. Naivas supermarket is situated just right of the junction towards Mombasa,and is excellently stocked and staffed. Ideally go with someone local who you know who can show you around with their local knowledge.
