Currently under renovations and closed for the season. Their sister resultant, Sociale, is on Waterfront, not far away, overlooking Okanagan lake. Great place to eat with delicious Italian dishes for the family. Sit under the vines in the patio and try their marinara pasta.

A great new restaurant that has popped up, walking distance from your place! This Japanese restaurant takes a classy spin on Japanese food.

On Saturday’s the Farmers Market is just down the street for you to explore the streets of local farmers, bakers, and artisan vendors. Catch the music near Tickelberries, they usually have some very talented artists perform. If you want to make a dinner with some fresh produce, take a stroll down!

Cool off along the trail to walk your dog. You can access this trail from the roundabout off Vancouver Ave and you can take this trail all the way up to the water reservoir. See if you can find the mini pools of water that have been created through building rock pools.

There is a steep hill to get up to the KVR if you are biking to there. Park on Vancouver Ave if you'd like to start closer to the trail/ up the hill, or if you'd like to go for a sunset walk.

City/town information

If you’d like to get away from the business and crowds, this is my favourite getaway close to Penticton. Keremeos is an incredibly beautiful, mountainous drive to visit. Go there to check out all the fruit stands, and go for a walk along the river. There is a hidden creek walk amongst the trees nearby if you can find it! It's only a 40 min road trip to step into a valley of mountains. Check out the wineries while you are there, they won't dissapoint. If you would like to experience arguably the best restaurant in the valley, go to Row14. They have a farm to table restaurant, growing everything themselves or sourcing only locally. They also make a variety of ciders!

Evening out

Spots to check out for an evening out: live music, trivia, local events
Slackwater hosts great trivia night events on Thursday as well as live music on most Saturday nights! It’s the only brewery that is open past 10 pm in the city. Great patio upstairs to watch the sunset. Check out the Slack Alley behind where they offer DJ events through the summer!

Patio season

Some of the best spots to try in Penticton for a patio drink, or some food.
Popular place, with a great atmosphere! Nice patio outside and dog friendly. Their seasonal beer is some of the best! Put your name down and then go for a walk along Main Street or to the beach, waits can be 45 mins. They serve Mexican fare. Try their various unique tacos and hot sauces! Or sample their tachos or elotes with chips to share.

Family friendly places/ activities

Finding a spot to swim can be tough for parking. It’s easy to walk from the home if you have the ability to. Or, park along Power street as parking on Waterfront can be tough. Another good parking spot is where Local landing is. As well, the spot of This spot at Okanagan lake has really nice beaches and it’s a little bit more quiet and away from the crowds on Waterfront. Finding parking can be tough. Parking just off of
Swimming at Okanagan lake. Finding parking can be tough, but typically I always find parking near the Sicamous or at Local Landing. There are nice bathrooms here to change. Setting up here for beach day is a great spot.

The channel is great to have your kids swim with you as your float down the channel. Heads up, find out how fast it is flowing from the workers at Coyote Cruises. Towards the end of July if it’s been hot, it can take 4 hours to float from Okanagan to Skaha. So if you can, with two vehicles, park one at the half way point, at the reserve gas station. Otherwise you can be picked up by Coyote cruises. You are supporting an Indigenous owned company.

City advice

Getting around

Penticton is very accessible by bike

You are able to bike around Penticton and Naramata in not much more time than to drive. Advice is to rent a bike and explore! Take the route along the river channel for the most direct route without stops.
Customs and culture

Penticton is within the Okanagan Syilx Territory

It's in being a good guest, that we are aware of the land we are on as well as seek to learn from the people of this land. The Syilx [see-il-kh] or Sqilx'w [skael-kw] or Okanagan people have lived here for time immemorial. Their language, Nsyilxcen [n-see-il-kh-chen] is at risk of becoming extinct. I am a teacher [suxmamayam] at their cultural school. Way' [y] is hello/ goodbye and limləmt [how it sounds] is thank you. To learn more, stop in at the En'owkin [ee-now-kehn] Centre.
