Sightseeing

The masterpiece of G. Rietveld, monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is certainly worth a visit. Commissioned by Truus Schröder, Mr Gerrit Rietveld built this house in 1924. This house is the only structure that was ever built according to the architectural principles of ‘The Style’ art movement. Characteristic for ‘The Style’ is the opening up of blind walls and the use of primary colours red, blue and yellow in combination with white, grey and black. A visit to the Rietveld Schröderhuis, thought out in every detail, is a true discovery; every part of the house tells its own story. Visits come standard with an audio tour. Bookings are essential and can be made via the website or on the day via Ticket Office. Direct sales can be made at the visitors centre, Erasmuslaan 5.
