Stuff To Do!

Our nice hill in Southern Maine is a perfect place for all ages to learn. We're open the hours listed here depending on snow conditions. Tickets are still just 5 bucks for all ages, (cash only please bring small bills). Unfortunately we do not rent equipment you have to bring your own. We also suggest leather work gloves or adding duct tape to your current gloves so the rope doesn't damage them. The sledding hill next door is always open and there is no charge for it. You have to bring your own sled and you have to walk up the hill. Also on the weekends we can be very busy so parking can be a problem. Please carpool whenever possible. See you at the hill!

In celebration of the nearly three hundred years of history in this grand old building, we invite local guests and travelers to come and experience the echoes of our colorful past. With a creative nod to centuries of French influence, our namesake Dufour stems from not only the famous French designer Joseph Dufour, but also translates from French to ‘from the oven.’ In 1909 after fleeing France, a small group of nuns from the Sisters of St. Joseph Order took sanctuary in this historic building, opening a school for the French-Canadien children of immigrant millworkers. Dufour honors all their spirits with traces of what remain here; Joseph Dufour’s famous ‘Les Vues D’Italie’ panoramic wallpaper that first hung on the Parlor walls since the 1820’s, has been painstakingly restored and is once again back in the parlor; decorative tin that adorned the Sisters’ convent line the walls and ceiling; fine marble at the bar is flanked by arches; church pews have become restaurant seating, and a breathtaking stained glass window made by a local artist sheds light between the bar and parlor. Wherever you are while at the Stage House Inn, take a moment to look around and enjoy the special restorations we’ve made. We welcome you to experience the strong bond of the past and present with our thoughtfully designed ambience, cocktails, and provisions.
