Fancier Restaurants

Dine in restaurants with decent wine lists and / or tequila selections.
One of the original restaurants to opening East Austin and one of the most popular. Great selection of vinyl records behind the bar where you might hear Bill Withers, Nina Simone or Bob Marley. Delicious cocktails and fabulous French cuisine. This is considered the OG of hipster spots in East Austin.

Grizzeldas is a fun scene. They may still have a great Happy Hour on Wednesdays. Indoor / outdoor seating. Great Fajitias , tacos, Margaritas, and a good choice for larger groups.

I love Launderette. It is a converted launderette from the 50's I think, so it has that retro feel. The brunch is great. Service exceptional. I loved the charred octopus and their homemade ice creams the Flavors change every 2 or 3 days. I had the lemon and plum. Yummy drinks and solid wine options.

Birdies has taken Austin by storm! The chef/ owners I believe came from Gramercy Tavern in NYC. Its seasonal Italian. People stand in line and feel it is worth the wait. They served us drinks while we waited in line and chatted with the people around us which was actually really fun. It's 5 mins from Prock Lane.

Book ahead! Although it can be a pain, it's a good sign when restaurants are consistently busy and booked out. This is more than a neighborhood fav. Friends of mine from Round Rock and Buda make the trip for their legendary brunch.

Food Truck and or " cheap n cheerful" casual dining

Da Nada is what I call " cheap n cheerful". Tasty Margaritas with tons of creative flavors to chose from and generous portions of tasty tacos. Indoor and outdoor seating which is right off Cesar Chavez across from Central Machine Works, next to Sawyer and Co.
