Cost effective public transportation with a view! If you'd prefer to see the harbor and spend $2-3/person, this is the way to go! There are small shops and restaurants, and a waterfront trail to explore in Dartmouth.

We’ve heard excellent feedback about Pier 21 from family and friends and exhibits are friendly for younger travellers. Directly beside the farmer’s market, and right on the waterfront walking distance to all of Halifax’s downtown attractions.

English Pub in historical building on Barrington St. The lower level feels just like Coronation St. Great selection of local brews and friendly wait staff. The patio is nice in warmer weather, and when it's cooler it's a cozy spot to have a pint and a meal by the fireplace. Great food and reasonably priced - this is our go-to pub in Halifax.

Great view and excellent seafood right on the waterfront. If you're out for lunch or a casual supper the lower level is perfectly fine, but if you're looking for a finer dining experience book on the upper level (white table cloths) and take in an amazing view of the Halifax harbor.

This little gem is about a 5 min walk up the road and is one of Halifax's best kept secrets for burger/fries and fish/chip - Westcliff has hands down the most affordable menu in Halifax. Eat-in or take-out, and the owners are a lovely couple from Newfoundland.

On Robie St. approx. 5min drive away, Good Robot is a fantastic craft brewery with a unique patio (on astro turf!) and a quaint eat-in bar area. It's a popular spot to pickup a growler or case of their famous 'Fizz' (seltzer). They do have live music on occasion, and if you’re here for Earth day they sometimes invite goats to eat hops on the patio! In our opinion, the coolest little brewery in Halifax.

This is an amazingly scenic spot to visit just 20min or so from Edgewood. The trail is extensive, but in a loop so you can go for 30min or 3 hrs. We would recommend wearing running or hiking shoes as there are a few sections with steep climbs/descents and uneven footing and it can get muddy following a rain. It's one of our favorite hiking spots with amazing photo ops. We'd recommend taking water with you as there are no facilities nor any shops nearby. It can be a little tricky to find the trailhead, but there are detailed directions on halifaxtrails dot ca
