This is my favorite greasy spoon in the whole city. Order a half chicken plate with all the sides. Add one pineapple sumol ( delicious Portuguese soft drink ) and 2 natas ( world renowned Portuguese pastry similar to a crème brulé ) . Take it in the beautiful Park Lafontaine ( Montreal version of central park ) , Share it with your partner. You will be living the total Montreal experience and you will be followed by tons of locals.

Montreal is famous for it's poutine. Created in the city of Drummondville by Le Roy Jucep this dish is made out of fresh triple cooked fries , gravy and a local curd cheese that we local call squeesh squeesh based on the sound it makes when you chew it. La Banquise is by far the most legendary place in Montreal when it come to poutine. There are over 40 choices with different ingredient. My top 3 is Duleton , fresh ground beef chopped onions and peppercorn gravy B.O.M witch stand for bacon , onions and merguez sausages Last but not the least the classic so you can taste the real experience with no add ons.

Wood-fired cooking, local cuisine and a vast wine list with old vintages. The cuisine at Hoogan & Beaufort and its chef-owner, Marc-André Jetté, is modern, precise and refined. Intransigent on quality, choice of products, taste and creative approach, we do not use any processed products. We are proud to work on precise balances of flavors and textures in order to offer a menu that is constantly renewed: elegant, contemporary and that highlights local talents, all within the industrial setting of the Angus shops in Montreal.

The longer you look at that photo, the more it reveals. A flashback to remember. A collection of faces revealing why that name, above the door, will always matter. Tousignant. It’s fast food, but made to order. The result of a late-night chat, and a handful of cooks, who were cheersing together. Who wanted to put the salt back in the butter. A bag of cheese curds that goes with supper. Assembled hot dogs, made proper. And fine toppings on a beautiful burger. But! You must order from the counter, and get up again when it’s ready to gather, except on weekends, and only for coffee (maybe with sugar). Prepared like it was meant to be, no fodder. You can arrive here hither or thither, it really doesn’t matter. Even better. Tous, chez Tousignant.

Café Dei Campi is a charming establishment with Italian flair and entirely plant-based delights: a well-kept secret on Rosemont Boulevard worth discovering! Opened in January 2016 by the couple formed by barista Nicola Vardaro – Dépanneur Le Pick Up, Caffè San Simeon – and pastry chef Isabelle Duchamps – H4C, Toqué! – Café Dei Campi is a small cafe in the neighbourhood that is also a bakery, a pastry shop, and a small restaurant/counter! Here, everything is made with plant-based ingredients. “We are voluntarily moving away from the vegan label,” says Isabelle. “We simply make good things that indulge in being vegan!” And frankly, they’ve been very successful! The name Dei Campi reflects this mentality; in addition to being the name of the chef in Italian (Deschamps), the expression Dei Campi brings to mind the entirely vegetal origin of the products used here.

Shop Bagels0 Rooted in family Current owner Joe Morena and his three sons Vincenzo, Nicolò, and Roberto believe St-Viateur Bagel’s success owes a lot to their loyal and dedicated employees, many of whom have been hand-rolling bagels for over 25 years, and are an important part of the bagel-making family. Like their fathers, the Morena boys have been in the bagel business since their early teens and proudly uphold the traditions passed on to them. They remain dedicated to this historic landmark and to the customers it serves, as well as to preserving Montréal’s cherished bagel tradition into the years to come. St-Viateur Bagel has been baking its famous bagels for over 60 years and is proud to be the longest running bagel shop in Montréal. 60 years of tradition St-Viateur Bagel Shop founder Myer Lewkowicz In 1953, when Myer Lewkowicz arrived in Canada, he didn’t know the first thing about baking anything, let alone bagels. He’d grown up in a large, poor family in a Jewish shtetl or village near Krakow, Poland. In 1942, he was arrested by the Gestapo and sent to Buchenwald concentration camp. Years later, while speaking to a high school class, Lewkowicz said, “At Buchenwald, all I dreamt of was a piece of bread.” Lewkowicz lived and worked in Germany after the war until he was discovered by Jewish Immigration Aid Services of Canada in 1952. He came to Montréal, where he got a job at Hyman Seligman’s Montréal Bagel Bakery on St-Laurent. Lewkowicz learned the bagel trade and just five years later, Myer and his wife Emma set up their own shop with Seligman on St-Viateur street, which is now our landmark St-Viateur Bagel shop. It's the city longest running bagel shop.

City/town information

Montreal is build around Mont Royal, from where the city received its name. Mont Royal Park, located on the mountain, was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same person who designed New York City's Central Park. No building in Montreal can be taller than the famous Cross found on Mont Royal! People are friendly and nonchalant You will feel safe and intrigued by how each neighborhood are really different. Montreal has an Underground City, which is a series of interconnected tunnels beneath the city that run for over 32km. The tunnels connect shopping malls, over 2000 stores, 7 metro stations, universities, banks, offices, museums, restaurants and so on. Unlike what is commonly believed, Montrealer's use the underground tunnels mostly in the heat of the Summer rather than to escape the cold in Winter!
