From the saddle of one of their 60 or so horses, riders see the park from a different perspective as they ford the Oconaluftee and either pass through a tunnel beneath U.S. Highway 441 or stop at Chasteen Creek Waterfall. Horse-drawn wagon rides on the historic route of the Oconaluftee Turnpike, one of the area’s earliest roads, offer a glimpse into the past— and possibly a glimpse of wildlife, including turkeys and elk.”- Our State magazine
