As a connoisseur of Biscuits & Gravy, having eaten them all over the country, these are absolutely the best anywhere. The pastry rack is absolutely to die for, too!

They're the only delivery in town, and actually make a pretty good pizza for a reasonable price. There may be coupons and menu under the coffee table.

This is a family-owned Mexican restaurant that offers more than the typical Mexican fare. The food is great, the prices are reasonable, and the people are really nice.

Parks & Nature

Only minutes from the cottage there are a couple of miles of lovely wooded trails alongside the Sultan River. There are herons, eagles, all kinds of waterfowl, beavers, and more. Keep your dog leashed though, there are lots of deer. At the confluence of the Sultan and Skykomish Rivers walk under the rail line to watch the interactions of the two rivers, especially during high water periods.

Anyone going towards Stevens Pass should stop at Deception Falls. Only about five minutes walk from the parking lot (lots of stairs, though), the falls and rapids are absolutely phenomenal. There's a nice loop trail that follows the river and heads back to the parking lot, as well. We stop every time we go by, it's that good.

Just after you leave Gold Bar and cross the bridge over the Skykomish River dive into the first right. You won't regret it, especially during the spring melt. The river goes absolutely insane here, and you'll frequently see entire Douglas Firs spinning around in the eddy formed by a granite outcropping or racing down the river towards the bend.

Extremely scenic reservoir at the end of Sultan Basin Road. Several trail heads start from near the lake, there is a small, steep boat launch, and a couple of picnic areas. The lake is *very* cold and extremely clear, you can see the bottom 25 or more feet down. Culmback Dam is at one end of the lake.

Wallace Falls is a beautiful hike, especially in the spring, and not far away. The hike is nice enough that even if you don't make it all the way to the falls it's still worth going. Make sure to go early since the parking lot fills early, especially on weekends.

Over 85 species of critters who appear to be treated well, the place is as much a sanctuary as a zoo. The staff are very knowledgeable and clearly care for the animals. There is no touching the reptiles, for their health.

The laundromat isn't far from the house, and you can drop laundry off during the day and pick it up later. It's in the shopping center behind the Coffee Box, which makes really good espresso milkshakes.
